Sangamo Choice Plus 3 Channel Digital Programmer - Black

The Sangamo Choice Plus is a 3-channel digital programmer with a backlit LCD screen, offering independent control over heating zone 1, heating zone 2 and hot water in pumped central heating systems. Each channel supports 24-hour, 5/2-day (weekday/weekend) or 7-day programming with two or three ON/OFF periods per day, allowing different schedules for weekdays, weekends and individual days of the week.

Designed for residential and light commercial installations, the programmer mounts on a standard UK single-gang back box and connects via 240V AC wiring with a 2A switch rating per channel. The boost function adds 1, 2 or 3 hours of heating or hot water outside the programmed schedule, while the holiday mode suspends all scheduled heating until a return date to prevent wasted energy during extended absences. A pre-programmed schedule is loaded at the factory, allowing the programmer to operate immediately after installation if the default timings suit the building.

The backlit display shows the current time, active channels (heating 1, heating 2, hot water) and programming mode on a blue LCD that remains visible in low light. The programmer includes automatic summer/winter time change and an optional service interval function that can trigger a reminder when boiler maintenance is due. The matt black finish sits flush with the wall once mounted, and the six front-panel buttons (+HR and ADV for each of the three channels) allow manual override and schedule adjustment without removing the unit from the wall.

What's the difference between 24-hour, 5/2-day and 7-day programming?

24-hour mode repeats the same schedule every day. 5/2-day mode allows one schedule for weekdays (Monday-Friday) and a different schedule for weekends (Saturday-Sunday). 7-day mode allows a unique schedule for each day of the week, giving maximum flexibility for irregular occupancy patterns.

How does the boost function work?

Pressing the +HR button on any channel adds 1, 2 or 3 hours of heating or hot water immediately, regardless of the programmed schedule. This is useful for unexpected hot water demand or when the house needs warming outside normal heating hours. The boost period expires automatically and the programmer returns to its scheduled operation.

What back box depth is required?

The programmer fits a standard UK single-gang back box. A 25mm minimum depth is recommended to accommodate wiring terminals and cable bends behind the unit. The front faceplate projects 42mm from the wall once installed.

Can it control a combi boiler?

The Choice Plus is designed for pumped systems with separate heating zones and hot water storage (e.g. conventional or system boilers with a hot water cylinder). Combi boilers typically require a simpler single-channel or 2-channel programmer since they heat water on demand rather than storing it. Check the boiler manufacturer's wiring diagram before installing.
