Description

The Sangamo Choice Plus is a 2-channel digital programmer that controls heating and hot water independently on pumped central heating systems. It offers three programming modes: 24-hour (same schedule every day), 5/2 day (weekday/weekend split), and 7-day (individual schedule for each day of the week). Each channel supports up to three on/off periods per day, giving flexibility to match occupancy patterns without wasting energy on empty-house heating.

Designed for residential and light commercial installation, the programmer fits a standard UK back box and connects to a boiler or heating system controller via a 2A 240V AC switching circuit. The backlit LCD display shows the current time, active channel status (heating, hot water, or both), and the next scheduled change. Button controls beneath the display allow users to adjust the schedule, activate a 1-3 hour boost for immediate heating or hot water, or enable holiday mode to suspend the schedule while away.

The unit arrives pre-programmed with a basic schedule that can be used immediately or overwritten to suit the household routine. Automatic summer/winter time adjustment removes the need to manually change the clock twice a year. An optional service interval function can be enabled to remind the user when boiler maintenance is due, though this feature can also be disabled if not required.

What's the difference between 24-hour, 5/2 and 7-day modes?

24-hour mode uses the same schedule every day. 5/2 mode allows a separate schedule for weekdays and weekends. 7-day mode gives individual schedules for each day of the week. The mode you choose depends on how much your routine varies across the week.

What does the boost function do?

Boost overrides the current schedule to turn heating or hot water on immediately for 1, 2 or 3 hours. After the boost period ends, the programmer returns to the normal schedule. This is useful for one-off demand without altering the weekly programme.

How is it wired into the heating system?

The programmer connects to the boiler or heating system controller via a 2A 240V AC switched circuit. Installation requires a qualified electrician or heating engineer, and the wiring must comply with current UK wiring regulations. See the manual in the Downloads tab for the terminal diagram.

Can it control underfloor heating?

The programmer is suitable for pumped central heating systems, including radiator and underfloor circuits, provided the system uses a compatible boiler or zone valve controller. The 2A switch rating is typically used to control a boiler relay or actuator rather than directly switching high-current loads.
