Description

The Sangamo Choice Plus is a 1-channel digital programmer for heating and hot water systems, offering 24-hour, 5/2-day and 7-day programming modes with a backlit LCD display. The programmer controls a single zone (either heating or hot water, depending on the system configuration) via a 2A switch rated for 240V AC, making it suitable for pumped central heating systems and standard UK residential installations.

Designed for direct replacement of existing mechanical or early digital timers, the Choice Plus mounts onto a standard UK back box and connects via three-core cable to the heating system wiring centre. The programmer offers up to three on/off periods per day, allowing different schedules for weekdays, weekends or individual days depending on the programming mode selected. A pre-programmed schedule is installed at the factory, so the unit can be used immediately after installation without needing to configure times from scratch.

The boost function provides manual override for 1, 2 or 3 hours, useful when extra heating or hot water is needed outside the scheduled periods. Holiday mode suspends the programmed schedule and holds the system off for up to 99 days, resuming normal operation automatically on return. The backlit display activates on button press, making the screen readable in low light. An optional service interval function can be enabled to remind users when boiler servicing is due, based on cumulative run hours.

The white plastic housing measures 148mm wide by 90mm tall with a 42mm projection from the wall once fitted. The programmer includes automatic summer/winter time adjustment, eliminating the need to manually change the clock twice a year. The unit weighs 0.31kg and ships with installation instructions and wiring guidance for qualified heating engineers.

What's the difference between 24h, 5/2 and 7-day programming?

24-hour mode repeats the same schedule every day. 5/2-day mode allows one schedule for weekdays (Monday-Friday) and a different schedule for weekends (Saturday-Sunday). 7-day mode lets you set individual schedules for each day of the week.

Can it control both heating and hot water?

No. This is a 1-channel programmer, so it controls either heating or hot water depending on how the system is wired. For independent control of both heating and hot water zones, a 2-channel programmer is required.

Does it need to be programmed on installation?

No. The programmer ships with a pre-programmed schedule already set, so it can be used immediately after wiring. The schedule can be customised later if needed.

What does the service interval function do?

When enabled, the service interval function tracks cumulative boiler run hours and displays a reminder when servicing is due. This is an optional feature that can be turned on or off via the settings menu.
