The Sangamo 72212 is a 2-channel 7-day programmable DIN rail time switch occupying two module widths on a standard 35mm DIN rail. Each channel controls a separate 16A volt-free changeover contact, allowing independent switching of two circuits or loads from a single compact unit. The LCD display shows programming status, current time, day of week, and active/inactive states for both channels.

Designed for commercial, industrial and residential distribution boards where multiple time-controlled circuits are needed, the 72212 suits applications including lighting control, HVAC scheduling, water heater timers, signage automation and access control systems. Each channel stores up to 46 switching events across the week, with separate programming for weekdays and weekends. The volt-free changeover contacts switch any voltage up to 230V AC or DC, making the unit compatible with both mains and low-voltage control circuits.

Programming is done via front-panel pushbuttons, with no need to remove the unit from the rail. The 72212 also supports optional Sangamo key-based programming and EasyVUE wireless hub control for remote scheduling via smartphone or PC (key and hub sold separately). A 10-year lithium battery maintains the clock and programme memory during power interruptions without requiring replacement. The unit fits a standard DIN rail clip and draws negligible standby power when the contacts are open.

How many DIN rail module spaces does it occupy?

The 72212 occupies two standard module widths on a 35mm DIN rail. In a typical consumer unit or distribution board, this is equivalent to the space taken by two single-pole MCBs.

What does 'volt-free changeover contact' mean?

A volt-free contact has no voltage present on the terminals when open. The 72212 switches external circuits rather than supplying power itself, so the contact can be used with any voltage up to 230V AC or DC. Each channel provides common, normally-open and normally-closed terminals for flexible wiring.

What happens to the programme during a power cut?

The 10-year lithium battery maintains the clock and all stored switching programmes during mains power interruptions. The unit resumes normal operation when power returns without needing reprogramming.

Can both channels run different schedules?

Yes. Each channel is independently programmable with its own schedule across the week. Channel 1 might control weekday lighting while Channel 2 controls weekend signage, for example, each with separate on/off times.
