The Sangamo 72103NFC is a 1-channel 7-day astro time switch designed for DIN rail mounting in distribution boards and control panels. The unit provides a volt-free 16A changeover contact that can be programmed to switch lighting, heating, ventilation and other electrical circuits based on daily, weekly or astronomical schedules. Programming is carried out using an Android smartphone with NFC capability, eliminating the need for separate programming tools or PC software.

Designed for commercial installations, industrial control panels, residential distribution boards and street lighting control cabinets, the 72103NFC occupies 2 modules on a standard 35mm DIN rail. The astro function automatically adjusts switching times relative to sunrise and sunset throughout the year based on GPS coordinates entered during setup, making it well-suited to external lighting control where manual adjustment of switching times would otherwise be needed seasonally. The 56 memory locations allow multiple on/off events per day across different days of the week.

The unit measures 108mm high, 43mm wide and 65mm deep, fitting alongside MCBs, RCDs and contactors in typical consumer units or industrial control enclosures. The LCD display shows current time, programmed events and system status. A 10-year battery reserve maintains programming and clock function during mains interruption without requiring external backup power. The volt-free changeover contact configuration allows the switch to control both normally-open and normally-closed circuits, or to act as a two-way switch between two separate outputs.

How is the 72103NFC programmed?

Programming is carried out using an Android smartphone with NFC capability. The phone is held against the NFC symbol on the front panel and the free Sangamo app guides the user through setting time, date, GPS coordinates for astro function, and up to 56 switching events across a 7-day weekly cycle. No separate programming tools or PC connection are needed.

What does the astro function do?

The astro function adjusts switching times automatically relative to sunrise and sunset throughout the year. When enabled, programmed events can be set to trigger at a specific offset before or after sunrise/sunset rather than at fixed clock times, making the switch adjust seasonally without manual reprogramming.

What is a volt-free changeover contact?

A volt-free contact has no voltage present on the terminals and acts as a mechanical switch only. The 16A changeover contact provides three terminals: common (C), normally-open (NO) and normally-closed (NC). This allows the switch to control independent circuits or act as a two-way switch between two outputs.
