Description

The Sangamo 72101 is a single-channel programmable time switch designed for DIN rail mounting in distribution boards and control panels. The unit occupies two module widths on standard 35mm DIN rail and provides a volt-free 16A changeover contact for switching loads up to 3,680W at 230V. The astro function automatically adjusts switching times based on sunrise and sunset, removing the need to reprogram seasonal time changes for outdoor lighting or security applications.

Designed for commercial, industrial and residential installations requiring automated lighting or equipment control, the 72101 stores up to 60 switching events across a 7-day programme. The LCD display shows current time, day, programme status and next switching event, with simple front-panel button programming. The changeover contact configuration allows the switch to control normally-open or normally-closed circuits, making it suitable for fail-safe applications where the load must default to a specific state on power loss.

The 10-year battery reserve maintains programme memory and timekeeping during mains power interruptions, eliminating the need to reprogram the unit after outages. The 72101 is compatible with Sangamo's optional key programming accessory and EasyVUE remote monitoring hub, allowing faster bulk programming across multiple installations and real-time status checking via network connection. The compact 108 x 43 x 65mm housing fits alongside MCBs and other DIN rail components in tight panel layouts.

Frequently Asked

What does the astro function do?

The astro function automatically calculates sunrise and sunset times based on the configured location and date, then adjusts switching events relative to those times. This removes the need to manually reprogram outdoor lighting schedules as daylight hours change through the year.

What is the maximum load the 16A contact can switch?

The volt-free changeover contact is rated at 16A resistive load at 230V, which equates to 3,680W. For inductive loads such as motors or fluorescent ballasts, derate to approximately 10-12A depending on the power factor and inrush current.

How many DIN rail modules does it occupy?

The 72101 occupies two module widths on standard 35mm DIN rail, the same width as a double-pole MCB. The 43mm width allows it to fit alongside other components in most distribution boards.

Does it retain programming during power cuts?

Yes. The internal battery reserve maintains programme memory and timekeeping for up to 10 years during mains power loss. The unit resumes normal operation immediately when power is restored.
