Description
The Sangamo 25162 is a 1-channel yearly time switch with a 16A volt-free changeover contact, designed for DIN rail mounting in consumer units and distribution boards. The unit occupies two module spaces on a standard 35mm DIN rail and controls one output channel across a full year of programmable events, with 300 memory locations for switching schedules.
Designed for controlling lighting circuits, heating systems, ventilation equipment, pumps and other time-dependent electrical loads in residential, commercial and industrial installations, the 25162 operates independently once programmed, with a 6-year battery reserve maintaining the clock and program memory during mains power interruptions. The volt-free changeover contact (16A at 250V) provides separate normally-open and normally-closed terminals, allowing the switch to control loads without being part of the load circuit itself.
The backlit LCD screen displays the current date, time, day of the week and next scheduled event. Programming can be carried out directly on the device using the front-panel buttons, or via Sangamo's optional key programming accessory and EasyVUE Connect hub (both sold separately) which allow schedules to be configured on a computer and transferred to multiple time switches. Special weekly programs and channel key assignment functions extend the flexibility of standard daily and weekly schedules.
The unit measures 108mm high by 43mm wide (2 modules) by 65mm deep, and connects to standard UK 230V 50Hz mains supply via the lower terminal block. GPS input terminals at the top of the device allow connection to an optional GPS receiver (sold separately) for automatic time and date synchronisation, particularly useful for installations spanning multiple time zones or requiring guaranteed accuracy without manual adjustment.

Frequently Asked
What does volt-free changeover contact mean?
A volt-free contact operates mechanically without being electrically connected to the load it controls. The 25162's changeover contact provides both normally-open (NO) and normally-closed (NC) terminals, allowing it to switch circuits without forming part of the circuit itself. This is safer and more flexible than live-switching contacts when controlling external loads.
How many switching events can be programmed?
The 25162 stores up to 300 individual switching events across the year. These can be daily, weekly, or date-specific events, with each event occupying one memory location. The backlit LCD shows the next scheduled event when the unit is in standby mode.
Does it work during power cuts?
Yes. The internal battery reserve maintains the clock, calendar and programmed schedule for up to 6 years during mains power failure. When mains power returns, the time switch resumes operation from the correct time and date without needing reprogramming.
Can multiple time switches be programmed with the same schedule?
Yes, using Sangamo's optional key programming accessory and EasyVUE Connect hub (both sold separately). Schedules are configured on a computer, saved to the programming key, then transferred to multiple 25162 units by inserting the key into each device. This is faster than manual programming when installing multiple identical schedules across a building.
