Description

Compact and adjustable, this is a single light meant to be aimed rather than left to spill. The round body measures 90mm across, and the head tilts within it so the beam can be set where you want it: washing along a wall, dropping onto a path, or grazing up a run of brickwork. The rust brown finish reads as a soft weathered orange, warmer than grey and quieter than black against render or stone. A replaceable 12W LED lamp is supplied, giving a warm white light, and it will dim when paired with a suitable dimmer.

It earns its place on porches, patio walls, sheltered courtyards and the flanks of garages and outbuildings, sealed well enough against rain and windblown dust to sit in an exposed spot. Because the light is directional, a pair either side of a door gives shape and shadow instead of one flat glare, and a run of them along a garden wall picks out planting nicely after dark. We reach for this one where a lantern would look too fussy and a floodlight far too keen. A dimmer is not supplied with it.

The housing is finished throughout in the same rust brown, gasket sealed and glazed over the lamp so water stays out. Keep it looking right by wiping the lens clear of salt, cobwebs and garden grime now and then with a damp cloth, power off first, and check the seal sits flat whenever the lamp is changed. It carries a two year warranty. We stock the same fitting in black, dark grey and white, in cooler white tones as well as this warm one, and in versions supplied without a lamp for anyone who already has GX53 spares to hand.
