Description

A small recessed downlight with a plain matt white trim, made for a 45mm cut-out and taking a GU10 lamp. Once in place, very little of it shows: a clean circle in the ceiling and a beam pointing straight down. We would put an LED reflector lamp in here, which is what it is designed around. It will dim if you pair a dimmable lamp with a matching dimmer, though neither comes with the fitting.

Downlights of this size do their best work in numbers, spaced out across a kitchen ceiling, along a hallway, or over a run of worktop where a pendant would be in the way. The narrow cut-out keeps the trim discreet in smaller rooms too, such as a cloakroom ceiling or a landing, and it works well tucked into an alcove or above shelving to bring light down onto what is there. Keep it to dry indoor spots, well away from baths and showers. It suits anyone who wants light without a visible fitting, and it takes lamps up to 10W.

The body is finished in matt white throughout, a flat white with no shine to catch the eye, which lets the trim settle into a painted ceiling. Cleaning is a job for a dry cloth on the trim when the power is off and the lamp cool; the light will look brighter for it, since dust settles on the rim first. We also stock the same downlight in matt black, and the wider Sal range runs to linear and round multi-light spotlights, switched wall lights and a long linear pendant, all on the same GU10 lamp, if you want the ceiling and the walls to agree. It carries a one year warranty. Lamps are not included.
