Description

The Otto is a 21-light semi-flush ceiling light built around a polished chrome hub that radiates chrome arms outwards, each ending in a hand-blown frosted glass shade. The glass pieces vary in shape — some curved like petals, others flattened or elongated — and are alternately frosted white, smoky grey and black, creating a mixed tonal palette when viewed together. Each of the 21 arms holds a G4 halogen capsule behind the glass.

Designed for rooms with ceiling heights of 2.4m or above where a close-to-ceiling fitting is preferred over a pendant drop, the Otto projects 310mm from the ceiling plane and spans 460mm in diameter. This suits living rooms, dining rooms and entrance halls needing a decorative ceiling fitting that fills visual space without requiring a high ceiling for pendant clearance. The 21-bulb configuration at 20W each gives 420W total output when all lamps are lit, producing bright multi-directional light across the room.

The frosted glass diffuses the halogen point sources, softening the light and preventing glare when viewed from below. The mixed white, grey and black tones in the glass create depth and variation in the piece — when lit, the frosted white shades glow more intensely, while the darker shades remain subtler. The polished chrome frame reflects both the light and surrounding room colours, adding a reflective metallic accent. The fitting weighs 5kg once installed and requires a ceiling fixing rated for that load.

The Otto is compatible with trailing edge dimmers, allowing the light level to be adjusted from full 420W output down to a low ambient setting. G4 halogen capsules are not sold with the fitting and must be purchased separately — the fitting is not compatible with LED or CFL bulbs, only halogen G4 capsules rated for 220-240V mains voltage.
