A wide crown of clear Asfour crystal hangs from a French gold frame here, with twenty-one candle lamps set in among the drops so the light scatters across a room instead of pooling in one spot. At 125cm across it is unmistakably the main event, and the drop can be set short or long depending on the ceiling height you are working with. Candle and flame tip lamps suit the arms best, and we would fit warm white LED versions to keep the crystal bright and the running costs sensible.

This is a chandelier for tall spaces: a double height entrance hall, a galleried stairwell, a long dining table in a room with height to spare. It suits anyone furnishing a period house or a generously proportioned new build where a smaller fitting would simply look lost, and it is equally at home in a function room or a hotel lounge. The light it gives is ambient rather than task light, so we would pair it with table lamps or wall lights if you read or work in the same room. Wired to a dimmer, with dimmable lamps fitted, it settles down well for evenings.

The crystal is Asfour, cut clear and hung in graduated lines, while the metalwork is finished in French gold, a warmer and softer tone than polished brass. To keep it looking its best, dust the drops with a clean lint free cloth and lift fingermarks with a barely damp one, always with the power off and the fitting cold. It carries a one year warranty. We stock the same design in black chrome at this size, and in smaller diameters in both finishes should you want a matching fitting for a landing or hallway. Lamps are not included.

What lamps does it take?

Twenty-one E14 lamps, up to 20W each. Candle (C35) or flame tip candle shapes look correct among the crystal, and LED versions are what we would choose.

How far does it hang down?

The drop adjusts from 1350mm to 2650mm, so it can be set for a standard high ceiling or dropped well into a stairwell void.

Can it be dimmed?

Yes, provided dimmable lamps are used and a suitable dimmer is fitted. No dimmer is supplied with the chandelier.

How heavy is it?

It weighs 30kg and arrives on a pallet in an extra large carton, so plan for two people to handle it.

How do I clean the crystal?

Switch off at the wall and let everything cool, then wipe each drop with a soft dry cloth. For marks, use a cloth just damp with water and dry it off; avoid sprays and solvents near the gold finish.
