Description
The Orion is a 500mm semi-flush ceiling light combining a brown wood grain disc with a matt black upper mount and integrated 24W LED. The shallow 140mm profile suits ceiling heights from 2.2m upwards, providing ambient light without the drop of a pendant. The LED sits within the central black recess and casts light downward and outward through the 140° beam angle, illuminating the wood grain from behind and creating a halo effect around the disc edge.
Designed for bedrooms, hallways, compact living rooms and open-plan kitchen-diners where ceiling clearance is limited, the Orion delivers 1680 lumens at 3000K warm white. The wood finish is a printed veneer over metal rather than solid timber, giving a consistent grain pattern across the circular profile. The matt black mount conceals the ceiling rose connection and provides a defined separation between the wood disc and the ceiling plane.
The 24W integrated LED is non-dimmable and draws power directly from 220-240V mains via a standard UK ceiling connection. The 3000K colour temperature sits in the warm white range, providing softer evening light than daylight LEDs while remaining brighter and cooler than traditional incandescent bulbs. The broad beam angle ensures the light spreads evenly across a room rather than concentrating in a narrow pool directly below the fitting.
The printed veneer means every fitting carries the same grain rather than the natural variation of solid timber, so matching multiple units across a room is straightforward. At 2.3kg the fitting requires fixings suited to its weight when mounted on plasterboard.

Frequently Asked
Is the Orion dimmable?
No. The integrated 24W LED operates at full brightness only and is not compatible with dimmer switches. If dimming is required, consider alternative fittings with dimmable LED modules.
What ceiling height does it suit?
The 140mm projection from the ceiling makes the Orion suitable for rooms with ceiling heights from 2.2m upwards. It works well in bedrooms, hallways and living rooms where a pendant would hang too low.
Is the wood finish real timber?
The wood finish is a printed veneer over a metal base rather than solid timber. This gives a consistent grain pattern across the disc and allows the LED to backlight the material, creating the halo glow visible around the outer edge.
How bright is 1680 lumens?
1680 lumens is comparable to a traditional 100-120W incandescent bulb. The 140° beam angle spreads this light evenly across a typical 12-16m² room, providing adequate ambient illumination for general use.
