Description

The Origo is a compact wall light pairing a hemispherical volcanic rock back plate with an opal glass globe diffuser that sits proud of the stone. The pitted, dark grey rock is left in its raw cut state, while the opal globe houses a single G9 lamp up to 20W (sold separately). The two halves overlap rather than meet flush, creating an offset composition where the soft white glass sits against the textured stone.

At 10cm in diameter, the Origo suits hallways, bedside walls, ensuites, stairwell runs and as a flanking pair either side of a mirror or headboard. The small footprint makes it useful where a fuller wall light would feel oversized — narrow corridors, small landings, or as a low-level marker light along a hallway. The G9 lamp produces a warm directional source that the opal globe softens into ambient light, while the volcanic rock catches a subtle wash from the rear of the diffuser.

Each volcanic rock hemisphere shows different pitting, pore distribution and tonal variation depending on the section of stone it was cut from, so no two pieces look identical. The combination of natural mineral texture and clean opal glass pairs with industrial, Japandi, wabi-sabi and minimal contemporary interiors. The fitting takes a single G9 capsule lamp at mains voltage with a maximum 20W rating, allowing LED, halogen or filament G9 bulbs to be specified to suit the room.

Does the volcanic rock vary between pieces?

Yes. Each back plate is cut from natural volcanic rock, so the pore size, pitting pattern and surface tone differ between individual pieces. This is a feature of the natural material rather than a defect.

How is it cleaned?

Dust the volcanic rock with a soft, dry brush to lift debris from the porous surface. The opal glass globe can be wiped with a soft microfibre cloth. Avoid spraying cleaning products directly onto the stone, as the porous surface can absorb liquids.
