Description
The Ora is a 105cm diameter suspension light with 12 E27 bulb fittings arranged across a curved gloss white frame with polished chrome accents. The frame forms a continuous sculptural ring that sweeps outward in asymmetric arcs, with opal diffusers integrated at each light point to soften the output from the bulbs. The structure suspends on adjustable cables from a chrome ceiling rose, allowing the drop to be set between 500mm and 1500mm depending on ceiling height.
Designed for open-plan living spaces, large dining rooms and double-height hallways with ceiling heights of 3m or above, the Ora provides both ambient and architectural presence. The 105cm diameter requires a floor area of at least 4m x 4m to avoid visual crowding, and works best centred over a dining table for 8-10 people or positioned as a central feature in an open living space. The 12 bulbs provide sufficient output to light a 25-30m² area when paired with warm-white LED bulbs at 6-8W per fitting.
The gloss white finish on the frame gives a high-sheen surface that reflects ambient light during the day and the glow from the bulbs when lit at night. The polished chrome accents at the joints and canopy add tonal contrast and mirror the light emitted by the opal diffusers. The fitting weighs 8.5kg and requires secure fixing to a ceiling joist or reinforced rose — the suspension cables carry the load but the ceiling fixing must support the full weight of the structure and bulbs.
Mantra produce the Ora in three sizes — 70cm with 8 lights, 85cm with 10 lights, and this 105cm version with 12 lights. The larger size suits proportionally larger rooms but retains the same curved aesthetic as the smaller variants. The frame arrives pre-assembled with the diffusers in place; installation involves fixing the ceiling rose, attaching the suspension cables and connecting to mains via a UK-standard ceiling terminal block.

Frequently Asked
What bulbs does it take and are they included?
The Ora takes 12 E27 Edison screw bulbs, sold separately. Most users pair this with warm-white LED bulbs between 6-8W and 2700K-3000K to match the specification. The total power consumption of 180W listed in the specification assumes 15W bulbs — modern LEDs will draw less.
What ceiling height is needed?
The adjustable drop ranges from 500mm to 1500mm. For a dining table the fitting typically sits 700-900mm above the surface, which requires a ceiling height of 2.7m or above with the shortest drop setting. For installation as a centrepiece in a double-height space, ceiling heights of 3.5-5m work well with the maximum 1500mm drop.
Is it dimmable?
Yes, if paired with dimmable E27 bulbs and a compatible trailing-edge dimmer. The fitting itself has no dimmer control — compatibility depends on the bulbs chosen and the dimmer installed on the circuit.
How is it fitted to the ceiling?
The chrome ceiling rose must be fixed to a ceiling joist or reinforced rose capable of supporting 8.5kg plus the weight of the bulbs. The suspension cables attach to the rose and the frame hangs from these cables. Connection to mains is via a standard UK ceiling terminal block inside the rose.
