Description

The NU-X NRN-1 Huminator is a noise gate pedal for guitar or bass. It uses all-analogue circuitry to keep your signal clean, and gives you Threshold and Decay controls so you can set the level at which the gate opens and the way it releases. That means you can hold back hum and hiss without cutting into the notes you actually want to hear.

One of the more useful features here is the send/return loop. Rather than gating your whole signal, you can loop in just the effects that create the most noise, such as high-gain distortion or fuzz pedals, so only those get processed. The rest of your chain stays clear of the gate, which keeps your tone natural while still dealing with the parts causing trouble. There is also a Reduction and Mute switch, letting you choose between noise reduction or a full mute of the signal when the pedal is switched off. The mute setting is handy for stopping unwanted noise from your instrument between songs or while you swap guitars.

It runs on the supplied 9V PP3 battery or an optional 9Vdc 300mA regulated power supply, which is not included. Input impedance is 1M Ohm and output impedance is 10k Ohm. The housing measures 121 x 77 x 48mm and weighs 230g, so it sits neatly on a pedalboard. If you run a multi-pedal setup and struggle with background hum, the Huminator is a straightforward tool for keeping things quiet.

No. A 9V PP3 battery is supplied, but the optional 9Vdc 300mA regulated power supply is not included.

What is the send/return loop for?

What is the difference between Reduction and Mute?
