Description

The Nordica II is a 62cm-diameter 3 light chandelier built around a central beech wood stem with white-finished metal arms that extend outward to support three ivory fabric shades. Each shade houses a single E27 bulb fitting (bulbs sold separately) and directs light both downward through the open base and softly outward through the fabric.

Designed for dining tables, kitchen islands and living areas with ceiling heights of 2.4m or above, the chandelier provides task and ambient light in equal measure. The adjustable drop ranges from 500mm to 1500mm, allowing the fitting to be set at the correct height above a dining surface (typically 700-800mm) or higher for ambient wash lighting in a seating area. The white metal arms extend from the central beech column at three evenly-spaced points, giving the chandelier a balanced, symmetrical footprint when viewed from below.

The beech wood central stem shows natural grain variation depending on the section of timber used, with tones ranging from pale honey to light tan. The ivory fabric shades diffuse light to reduce glare while maintaining enough brightness for practical dining and reading tasks. The white metal finish on the arms and ceiling canopy provides a clean edge against both white and toned ceilings. At 2.48kg, the fitting requires a ceiling rose capable of supporting at least 3-4kg when loaded with bulbs.

Choosing bulbs in the 2700K to 3000K range gives a warm ambient light across the three shades, and a compatible dimmer allows the brightness to be lowered for evening use in a bedroom or living space.

What bulbs does it take?

The chandelier takes three E27 (Edison screw) bulbs, sold separately. We suggest pairing this with warm-white LED bulbs between 6-10W and 2700K-3000K for dining areas. The maximum wattage per bulb depends on the bulb type chosen.

Is it dimmable?

Yes, provided you use dimmable bulbs and pair them with a compatible dimmer switch rated for the bulb type (LED dimmers for LED bulbs, for example). The chandelier itself has no electronic components that affect dimming.

What ceiling height is needed?

The chandelier works in rooms with ceiling heights of 2.4m or above. For a dining table, the fitting typically hangs 700-800mm above the surface, which requires approximately 2.4-2.5m ceiling height when set at the 500mm minimum drop. Higher ceilings can use the full 1500mm drop for ambient lighting.

Yes. Natural beech timber shows variation in grain pattern and tone, ranging from pale honey to light tan depending on the section of wood used. This is a characteristic of the natural material, not a defect.
