Description

Nivå is a pendant in grey and wood. A grey bell dome, narrow at the crown and widening in a continuous curve to a wide open rim, capped by a flat disc of pale wood that sits proud of the metal. The inside of the dome is lined in warm cream, so it shows as a bright ring from below against the chalky grey outside. A cream braided flex runs up from the centre of the wood. The wood is the only warm material on the fitting and it is left plain. The rim is left open with no diffuser. It measures 14cm across.

A shade this small works better in a run of two or three over an island than alone in the middle of a ceiling, where it reads as an accent rather than the main light. Hang it so the bottom of the shade sits about 80cm above the surface, a little higher if people walk beneath it rather than sit under it. Hung at that height the shade is read as an object in the room rather than as a source, and the light lands on the table instead of in the eyes of the people round it.

The holder is G9. It is rated IP20, for dry indoor rooms.

A G9 lamp. Bulbs are supplied separately so you can choose the brightness and colour you want.

Can it be dimmed?

Yes, on a compatible dimmer, provided the lamp you fit is a dimmable one. The fitting has no dimmer of its own.

How high should it hang above a dining table?

About 80cm from the table top to the bottom of the shade. Go higher over an island people walk past, and lower over a table nobody passes beneath.

Can it go in a bathroom?

No. It is IP20, which covers dry interior rooms only. A bathroom needs IP44 or better.
