Description

The MAGfire FHD2 is a fixed temperature heat detector that triggers an alarm when ambient temperature exceeds 60°C, rated to class A2/S according to BS EN 54-5. The detector ships with a matching white base that fixes directly to standard UK back boxes or junction boxes, with the sensor head twisting onto the base after installation.

Designed for areas where smoke detectors would false-alarm (kitchens, boiler rooms, dusty workshops, garages), the heat detector responds only to sustained high temperature rather than smoke particles or steam. The digital processing algorithm monitors temperature rise over time to filter out transient heat sources, reducing nuisance alarms from short bursts of hot air near ovens or kettles.

The low-profile white housing sits approximately 40mm proud of the ceiling once fitted, with a red LED visible through slots around the perimeter providing 360° visibility from floor level. The LED flashes every 8 seconds to confirm the sensor is powered and operational, and remains solid during alarm state. The white ABS construction blends into standard residential and light commercial ceilings without drawing attention when not in alarm.

Frequently Asked

At what temperature does it trigger?

The detector triggers when ambient temperature reaches or exceeds 60°C, meeting class A2/S requirements under BS EN 54-5. This threshold is fixed and cannot be adjusted in the field.

Where should heat detectors be used instead of smoke detectors?

Heat detectors suit kitchens, boiler rooms, garages, workshops and any area where cooking fumes, steam, dust or exhaust gases would cause a smoke detector to false-alarm. They respond only to high temperature, not smoke or vapour.

What does the LED indicate?

The red LED flashes every 8 seconds to confirm the detector is powered and monitoring. During an alarm condition the LED remains solid. The LED is visible through 360° slots around the perimeter of the housing.

Is the base included?

Yes. The detector ships with a white mounting base that fixes to standard UK back boxes or junction boxes. The sensor head twists onto the base after wiring is complete.
