Description

The MagDuo 4 Zone Kit is a two-wire conventional fire alarm system built around the MAGDUO4B 4-zone control panel in a black steel enclosure. The kit includes six MAGDUOSHDS selectable optical smoke/heat detectors with integral sounders and bases, one MAGDUOSHDSS detector with sounder and strobe, two MAGDUOCP resettable manual call points, and a head removal tool for detector maintenance.

Designed for small commercial premises, multi-occupancy residential buildings, care homes and light industrial sites requiring up to four detection zones, the two-wire topology reduces installation time and cable cost compared to conventional four-wire systems. The panel dimensions of 380mm x 350mm x 240mm allow wall-mounting in plant rooms, electrical cupboards or ceiling voids with adequate ventilation. The system requires two 12V 3.2Ah sealed lead-acid batteries (not included) for standby power during mains failure.

The black finish on the panel enclosure suits discreet installation in back-of-house areas. Each detector can be field-configured to operate in optical smoke mode or fixed-temperature heat mode depending on the environment — heat mode for kitchens and dusty areas, smoke mode for circulation spaces and bedrooms. The integral sounders in each detector eliminate the need for separate sounder circuits, while the single detector with strobe provides visual alarm indication for hearing-impaired occupants or high-noise environments.

What batteries does the panel require?

The MAGDUO4B panel requires two 12V 3.2Ah sealed lead-acid (SLA) batteries for standby power. Batteries are not included in the kit and must be purchased separately.

Can the detectors be used in kitchens?

Yes. Each MAGDUOSHDS and MAGDUOSHDSS detector is selectable between optical smoke mode and fixed-temperature heat mode. In kitchens, laundries and other areas prone to cooking fumes or steam, configure the detector to heat mode to reduce false alarms.

What is the maximum cable run for a two-wire system?

Maximum cable run depends on cable gauge and the number of devices on the zone. Refer to the Product Specification Sheet for detailed loop resistance calculations and cable sizing guidance for your specific installation.

Does the kit include installation and commissioning?

No. The kit supplies the hardware only. Installation, configuration and commissioning of fire alarm systems must be carried out by a competent person in accordance with BS 5839-1 and local building regulations.
