Description

The ESP MagDuo 4-zone expansion card (MAGDUOZC4) adds four additional 2-wire fire alarm zones to an existing MAGDUO4 or MAGDUO4B control panel, expanding the system from 4 zones to 8 zones. The card fits inside the MAGDUO4/MAGDUO4B panel enclosure and connects via the panel's internal expansion port, requiring no additional external wiring between the panel and the expansion card itself.

Designed for commercial and larger domestic fire alarm installations where zone count needs to grow without replacing the base panel, the expansion card allows each new zone to monitor a separate circuit of fire detectors and call points using 2-wire technology. This means two zones can share the same cable pair, reducing installation material costs compared to conventional 4-wire systems. Each zone can be independently programmed and monitored from the main MAGDUO4 control interface.

The expansion card measures 120mm x 70mm and weighs 150g, fitting within the standard MAGDUO4 panel enclosure without requiring a larger cabinet. Installation involves opening the panel, inserting the card into the designated expansion slot, securing it with standoffs, and connecting zone wiring to the card's terminal blocks. The panel firmware automatically detects the expansion card on power-up and extends the zone monitoring interface to cover zones 5-8.

The 2-wire configuration supported by this expansion card allows each zone circuit to carry both power and signal on the same pair of conductors, simplifying cable runs in buildings with long detector loops or difficult-to-access ceiling voids. Zone indicators and fault detection for the expanded zones operate identically to the base panel's native zones, maintaining consistent system behaviour across all eight zones once the card is installed.

Frequently Asked

Is this card compatible with both MAGDUO4 and MAGDUO4B panels?

Yes. The MAGDUOZC4 expansion card is compatible with both the MAGDUO4 and MAGDUO4B fire alarm control panels. It is not compatible with other ESP panel models.

Does the expansion card require additional power supply?

No. The expansion card draws power from the main MAGDUO4 panel via the internal expansion port. Ensure the main panel's power supply has sufficient capacity to support the additional zones and connected devices.

How many detectors can each expanded zone support?

The number of detectors per zone depends on the total current draw of the devices on that zone circuit and the panel's zone output rating. Consult the MAGDUO4 panel manual and the detector specifications to calculate the maximum device count per zone.

Can multiple expansion cards be installed?

The MAGDUO4 and MAGDUO4B panels support one MAGDUOZC4 expansion card only, providing a maximum of 8 zones total. Multiple expansion cards cannot be stacked.
