MagDuo 4 Zone 2-Wire Fire Alarm Panel - Black

The MagDuo is a 4-zone 2-wire fire alarm control panel certified to EN54-2/4 standards, supporting up to 32 addressable devices per zone depending on device loading units. The panel uses active end-of-line monitoring and head removal detection to verify circuit integrity continuously, and differentiates between smoke detector, heat detector and manual call point activations on the 4-line x 20-character LCD display.

Designed for small to medium commercial installations including offices, retail units, warehouses and light industrial premises, the MagDuo fits a standard metal enclosure measuring 340mm x 350mm x 101mm and requires two 12V 2.3Ah batteries (BAT32, sold separately) for backup power. The panel supports RS485 connection to up to eight repeater panels for multi-floor or extended-area monitoring, and stores up to 500 events in the onboard log for compliance and maintenance records.

Each zone can be configured to day/night detection modes with programmable alarm delay options, and the panel includes three enhanced test modes for commissioning and routine testing. An optional conventional zone card allows zones 5-8 on the 8-zone version of this panel to accept conventional devices alongside the 2-wire addressable circuits on zones 1-4. The alarm confirmation feature reduces false alarm incidents by requiring sustained detector activation before triggering the main alarm output.

The black metal enclosure includes hinged door access to the control fascia and a keyswitch for secure access to programming functions. Fire alarm controls include silenceable sounder, reset system, sound evacuation and silence buzzer buttons on the front panel. System fault, power fault, mains, battery, earth fault and zone-specific fault indicators use dedicated LED arrays for rapid visual fault diagnosis during routine checks.

What batteries does the MagDuo require?

The panel requires two 12V 2.3Ah batteries (ESP part number BAT32) for backup power. These are sold separately and sit inside the main enclosure below the control board. Battery life during mains failure depends on the total device load and alarm activity.

How many devices can be connected per zone?

Each zone supports up to 32 addressable devices, though the actual number depends on the combined device loading units (DLU) of the detectors, sounders and call points connected to that zone. Consult the MagDuo manual for DLU values of compatible devices.

Is the panel compatible with conventional detectors?

The 4-zone panel is 2-wire addressable only. The 8-zone version can accept an optional conventional zone card to allow zones 5-8 to use conventional 4-wire detectors alongside the addressable circuits on zones 1-4.

What certification does it carry?

The MagDuo is certified to EN54-2 (control and indicating equipment) and EN54-4 (power supply equipment) standards. This certification is required for compliance with UK fire safety regulations in most commercial premises.
