Description

The MagDuo is a 2-wire addressable smoke and heat detector with an integrated sounder, combining fire detection and alarm notification in a single 150mm ceiling-mounted unit. It offers seven selectable detection modes including smoke-only, heat-only, and combined smoke-heat sensing, allowing configuration to suit different room types and fire risk profiles.

Designed for commercial, industrial and multi-occupancy residential fire alarm systems, the MagDuo connects via a 2-wire loop to compatible addressable fire panels, reducing installation cable runs compared to separate detector and sounder devices. The built-in end-of-line function simplifies loop termination, while the device wiring base (included) allows the detector head to be removed for maintenance or testing without disturbing ceiling wiring.

The detector self-calibrates every six hours to compensate for environmental drift and dust accumulation, maintaining sensitivity over time. Continuous dust contamination monitoring triggers a warning before detection performance degrades. The three selectable sounder modes provide volume and tone options to match acoustic requirements across different zones. The white polycarbonate housing carries an IP21C rating, protecting internal circuitry from dust ingress and condensation in typical indoor environments.

What are the seven detection modes?

The MagDuo offers smoke-only, heat-only, combined smoke-heat, and four other configurable modes tailored to different fire risk environments. The specific mode is programmed during installation via the addressable fire panel. Consult the product manual in the Downloads tab for full mode details.

Is it compatible with all addressable fire panels?

The MagDuo is designed for ESP addressable fire alarm panels and compatible systems using 2-wire loop protocols. Check compatibility with your existing panel manufacturer before ordering, or contact us for confirmation.

Can the detector head be removed without rewiring?

Yes. The detector head twists off the wiring base fixed to the ceiling, allowing maintenance, cleaning or replacement without disturbing the cable terminations. The wiring base is included with the detector.

What does the dust contamination monitoring do?

The detector continuously monitors internal dust levels. When contamination reaches a threshold that could affect sensitivity, it sends a fault signal to the fire panel, prompting a cleaning schedule before detection performance degrades.
