Description
The MagDuo is a ceiling-mount alarm sounder in white ABS housing, designed for 2-wire fire and intruder alarm systems. The sounder connects via a two-wire loop carrying both power and trigger signal, simplifying installation compared to conventional 4-wire devices. Volume is adjustable across multiple levels via internal DIP switches, allowing the output to be calibrated to room size and ambient noise.
Installed on ceilings in commercial premises, care homes, schools and industrial units, the MagDuo suits environments where wall-mount sirens are impractical or where ceiling placement provides better audibility across open-plan spaces. The built-in End of Line (EOL) function allows the control panel to monitor circuit integrity and detect tampering or disconnection. The device ships with a separate wiring base that fixes to a standard electrical back box, with the sounder body twisting onto the base after wiring is complete.
The 150mm diameter white housing carries an IP21C ingress protection rating, protecting against solid objects larger than 12.5mm and vertically-falling water droplets. The ABS construction withstands impact and UV exposure without discolouration in typical indoor settings. At 250g net weight, the sounder mounts securely to plasterboard ceilings using the supplied wiring base and does not require additional bracing in most installations.

Frequently Asked
What is a 2-wire sounder and how does it differ from a 4-wire device?
A 2-wire sounder receives both power and trigger signal over the same two-wire loop, whereas a 4-wire device uses separate pairs for power and triggering. The 2-wire configuration simplifies wiring and reduces cable costs in large installations, but requires a compatible control panel that supports 2-wire devices.
How is the volume adjusted?
Volume is adjusted via internal DIP switches accessible by removing the sounder body from the wiring base. Multiple volume levels are available, allowing the output to be matched to room size and background noise. Exact dB levels and adjustment steps are detailed in the product manual.
What does the built-in End of Line (EOL) function do?
The EOL function allows the alarm control panel to continuously monitor the circuit for faults, disconnections or tampering. If the sounder is removed or the wiring is cut, the panel detects the change in circuit resistance and triggers a tamper alert.
Can it be installed outdoors?
The IP21C rating protects against vertically-falling water droplets and solid objects larger than 12.5mm, which is sufficient for dry indoor environments but not for outdoor exposure to rain, wind-driven moisture or temperature extremes. For outdoor use, specify an IP65 or IP66-rated external sounder.
