Description

The Maddison is a 60cm diameter crystal chandelier built on a circular French gold frame with eight G9 bulb fittings. Rectangular and square cut crystals hang in cascading tiers from the rim, creating multiple layers that refract light from the eight bulbs both downwards through the centre and outwards through the crystal curtain. The crystals are clear glass, cut with facets that scatter light into spectrum colours when the chandelier is illuminated.

Designed for dining rooms, entrance halls and living rooms with ceiling heights of 2.6m or above, the Maddison hangs on three steel cables that adjust between 540mm minimum and 1900mm maximum drop on installation. The 600mm diameter suits tables between 1.4m and 2.0m in length, or can be centred in a 4m x 4m room as the primary light source. The chandelier is dimmable when paired with dimmable G9 bulbs (sold separately), allowing control from full brightness for dining to softer ambient light for evening use.

The French gold finish is a warmer, slightly matte-toned gold that sits between polished brass and antique brass in tone, pairing comfortably with both traditional and contemporary interiors that use warm metals. The eight bulbs are distributed evenly around the circular frame, giving balanced illumination without hotspots. At 8kg installed weight, the chandelier requires a ceiling fixing capable of supporting at least 12kg, typically a plasterboard toggle or joist fixing depending on ceiling construction.

What bulbs does the Maddison take?

The chandelier requires eight G9 bulbs, each rated up to 33W maximum. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users choose G9 LED bulbs between 3W and 5W in warm white (2700K-3000K) for ambient dining room lighting. Dimmable G9 LEDs are recommended if dimmer control is required.

What drop height works for a dining table?

The chandelier drop is adjustable between 540mm and 1900mm on installation. For positioning above a dining table, the general guideline is 700-900mm clearance between the table surface and the bottom of the chandelier, which works in rooms with ceiling heights of 2.4m or above. Lower ceilings benefit from the shorter drop settings.

Can the chandelier be fitted to a plasterboard ceiling?

Yes, but it requires appropriate fixings. At 8kg installed weight, the chandelier needs plasterboard toggles rated to at least 12kg, or ideally a fixing directly into a ceiling joist. Standard plasterboard cavity fixings are not sufficient for this weight. If in doubt, consult a qualified electrician.

How is the crystal cleaned?

Switch off the power at the consumer unit before cleaning. Wipe each crystal piece gently with a dry microfibre cloth to remove dust. For more thorough cleaning, a barely-damp cloth with distilled water works, but avoid soaking the metal frame or bulb fittings. Do not use chemical sprays or abrasive cloths on the crystals.
