Description

The M3.5 x 75mm flat head countersunk electrical screw is a machine screw designed for fixing screwless and flat plate sockets and switches to UK back boxes. The countersunk head sits flush with the faceplate surface when driven fully home, preventing screw heads from protruding beyond the plate and interfering with the screwless cover clip mechanism.

The 75mm length is required when fixing through a thick screwless faceplate and sub-frame assembly into a standard metal back box. The M3.5 thread diameter matches the fixing lugs on Knightsbridge and most other UK electrical accessory back boxes. The nickel finish on the screw provides corrosion resistance in residential and light commercial installations.

Supplied in a 100-pack, the quantity is sufficient for approximately 12-14 double-gang screwless sockets or switches, depending on whether each faceplate uses six or eight fixing points. The screws are machine-threaded rather than self-tapping, so they pair with the pre-threaded fixing lugs on metal back boxes without requiring pilot holes or excessive torque.

Frequently Asked

What are these screws used for?

These are designed for fixing screwless and flat plate electrical accessories to UK back boxes. The 75mm length accommodates the thickness of a screwless faceplate plus the sub-frame that sits behind it, reaching into the back box fixing lugs.

Will these fit standard UK back boxes?

Yes. The M3.5 thread diameter matches the fixing lugs on standard metal back boxes used throughout the UK electrical accessory market, including Knightsbridge, MK, BG Electrical and most other manufacturers.

How many screws are needed per socket or switch?

Most screwless double-gang sockets and switches use six to eight screws depending on the design. Single-gang accessories typically use four screws. A 100-pack covers approximately 12-14 double-gang installations.

Can these be used with standard screw-fixed faceplates?

The 75mm length is too long for standard screw-fixed faceplates, which typically need 30-40mm screws. These are specifically sized for the thicker assembly created by screwless plates with separate sub-frames.
