Lowan Suspension Kit 79cm Dia - Painted Brushed Gold

This is the broadest plate in the Lowan range and the largest we stock, a wide gold disc that holds a flush fitting below it on a power cable, so the light sits down in the room instead of pressed up against the ceiling. The disc measures 79cm across and the cable gives a drop of up to 3m, taken in to whatever suits the room. Nothing in the plate itself lights up; the light comes from the fitting it carries, and the load it will take is 40kg.

We use it where a ceiling is tall enough to swallow a flush fitting whole: high entrance halls, stairwell voids, converted lofts and long dining rooms under a vaulted roof. It suits anyone who has settled on the flush fitting they want and simply needs it lower, at a height where the shade reads properly and the light falls across the table rather than the cornice. Keep it to dry rooms indoors; it is not one for a bathroom or a covered porch.

The painted brushed gold finish is a soft, warm gold with a fine grain running through it rather than a mirror shine, so it sits quietly alongside brass and antique gold fittings. Dust it with a dry duster and keep polishes, sprays and anything gritty away from the paint; if a mark needs more than that, a barely damp cloth followed by a dry one will do it. It carries a two year warranty. The same plate is made in smaller diameters and in polished chrome if the gold runs too warm for your scheme, and the fitting you suspend from it is chosen separately.

What does this plate actually do?

It hangs a flush fitting lower into the room. The fitting attaches beneath the plate and is fed by the supplied power cable, so a light designed to sit tight to the ceiling can instead hover well below it.

How high and how low can the fitting sit?

The drop is adjustable between 350mm and 3000mm, measured from the ceiling, so you can set it just below a high ceiling or bring it right down over a table.

How much weight will it hold?

The maximum load is 40kg, which covers large flush fittings comfortably. The plate itself weighs 6.9kg.

Does it come with a light or lamps?

No. It is non-electric and has no lamp socket of its own, so both the fitting and any lamps it needs are chosen separately.

Will the brushed gold mark easily?

It is a painted finish, so treat it as you would any painted surface: dry dusting, no abrasive creams, no solvent-based cleaners. Handle it by the edges when it is off the ceiling to avoid fingerprints in the paint.

Is it made in other sizes and finishes?

Yes. The range runs down through smaller diameters and is also offered in polished chrome.
