Description

A broad, shallow diffuser in polished chrome, 30cm across, made to soften the light a lamp throws downward. The crystalline shade scatters that light as it passes through, so the room reads gentler and the source is less harsh to look at. Being non-electric, it has no lamp or wiring of its own and borrows its light entirely from the fitting it joins.

We turn to one of these where a bare lamp is doing too much of the work: a hallway, a landing, a stairwell, a small dining area, or a bedroom where the fitting sits in the eyeline. It suits anyone who likes an open fitting but wants the glare taken out of it, and it is a quiet way to lift a plain ceiling light without changing the fitting itself. The lamp stays with the host fitting, and we would choose an LED GLS lamp there, rated no higher than 40W.

The chrome is polished to a mirror brightness, and the crystalline diffuser gives a crisp sparkle when lit. Keep it looking well by lifting dust with a dry, soft cloth; marks and fingerprints on the chrome come away with a cloth wrung out in warm water, dried straight after, and nothing abrasive or solvent based should touch either the metal or the shade. Isolate the light and let everything go cold before you handle it. It carries a one year warranty. Polished chrome is the finish we hold it in, and it looks best against chrome or nickel fittings and pale ceilings, where it reads as a soft glow rather than a hard edge. No lamp is supplied with it.
