Lori Single E27 Pendant Light Clear - Polished Chrome

A single clear shade, slim and gently curved into a trapezium, hangs on a polished chrome suspension. It measures 12cm across, so it reads as a small light rather than a heavy one, and the drop adjusts from a close hang to a long fall. The lampholder is E27 and takes up to 20W. Because the shade is clear, the lamp inside is part of the look, so a decorative filament or a neat globe suits it well.

We would reach for this where a small point of light does more good than a wide shade: over the corner of a kitchen island, beside a bed in place of a table lamp, or grouped down a stairwell. The clear shade keeps sightlines open in a narrow room. It will dim, given a dimmable lamp and a compatible dimmer, though neither comes with it, and the adjustable drop means the same fitting works in a low bedroom or a tall entrance hall.

The finish is a bright polished chrome, which sits happily alongside chrome taps, handles and switch plates. Clear surfaces show every fingerprint, so wipe the shade with a barely damp cloth once the lamp is cold and dry it off straight away; the chrome asks for no more than a dry duster. It belongs in dry rooms inside the house, away from splashes and steam. How low will it hang?

The drop is adjustable between 270mm and 1770mm, so it can sit tight under a low ceiling or fall well down over an island or a stairwell.

Which lamp should I choose?

It takes one E27 lamp of up to 20W, and an LED is the sensible choice here. No lamp comes in the box, so add one to suit the shade and the brightness you want.

Can I put it on a dimmer?

Yes, provided you fit a dimmable lamp and a dimmer rated to match it. A dimmer is not supplied with the pendant.

How wide is the shade?

120mm, or 12cm, across the widest part, which keeps it slim enough to hang in a run without the shades crowding each other.

How do I keep the clear shade looking right?

Switch off and let the lamp go cold, then wipe the shade with a barely damp cloth and dry it immediately so no marks are left behind. Avoid abrasive creams on the chrome.
