Description

A small chrome globe hangs from a slender suspension here, quiet in shape and bright in finish. The shade is an open mouth round globe, 12cm across, its mirrored surface catching whatever light is already in the room and sending the lamp's glow down through the open base. The drop is adjustable, reaching 1.7m at its longest and shortening to sit tight under a lower ceiling. It takes an E27 lamp, and we would choose an LED to suit the shape of the shade.

Because the globe is compact, it reads well in groups: a run of them along a kitchen island, or matched either side of a bed, where a lone pendant would look lost. It is just as good on its own over a hall table or in a small snug, where a wide shade would crowd the room. The small diameter also keeps sightlines clear across a table. Dimming is possible with a dimmable lamp and a compatible dimmer, both bought separately. We would keep it to dry indoor rooms, so kitchens, bedrooms and sitting rooms are fine, bathrooms are not.

The suspension and the shade carry the same chrome, polished so the pendant behaves a little like a mirror against the ceiling. That finish shows fingerprints, so a clean dry cloth over the globe now and then keeps it sharp; nothing damp, nothing abrasive. It carries a one year warranty. The same open mouth globe shape runs through the wider Lori range on flush fittings, in this polished chrome and in an antique gold, which makes it easy to carry one look through a hall and the rooms off it. Lamps are not included.

What is the best way to clean it?

Switch off at the wall and let everything cool, then go over the chrome with a soft dry cloth. Avoid sprays, solvents and scouring pads, as they dull a polished surface.

Will it suit a bathroom or a covered porch?

No. It is rated for dry indoor rooms only, so keep it away from damp and splashing.
