Five slim curved trapezium shades hang from a round frame measuring 45cm across, each angled so light falls in a ring rather than a single pool. The shades are chrome, the frame antique gold, and the two tones sit close together: warm above, cool and mirrored below. The shape is narrow rather than bulbous, so it reads lighter than its width suggests. Every shade takes its own E27 lamp of up to 20W, and the drop adjusts, so the piece can sit fairly close to the ceiling or fall well below it.

We would hang it over a dining table or a kitchen island, where several small shades give a friendlier line of light than one wide shade, and it works just as well in a hall or above a stairwell with height to spare. The shades throw light downward, so it suits a room that has a table lamp at low level for balance. It will dim if you pair it with dimmable lamps and a compatible dimmer, neither of which is supplied. Wiring is mains, with an earth connection, and it belongs in dry rooms indoors.

Which lamps should I fit?

It takes five E27 lamps, each rated up to 20W, and LED is the sensible choice here. Lamps are not supplied, so choose a shape that sits neatly within the shade.

Can I put it on a dimmer?

Will 45cm be too wide for a small dining table?

At 45cm across it is a medium fitting rather than a large one. Over a table around 90cm wide or more it stays in proportion; above anything narrower it will begin to overhang.

How do I keep the chrome shades looking right?

A soft dry cloth is all they need. Mirrored chrome shows marks, so wipe gently and often rather than scrubbing, and keep polishes and abrasive creams away from both finishes.
