Description
Three opal globe shades hang from a round satin nickel frame, each with an open mouth so the light falls straight down onto whatever sits below while the body of the shade glows softly. Opal softens what passes through it, so the shades read as a glow rather than a hot spot. The globes are simple and unfussy, and the satin finish keeps the metalwork calm rather than bright. The frame measures 40cm across, and the drop adjusts from a short hang close under the ceiling out to a little over two metres.
We reach for this over a dining table or a kitchen island, where light spread along the length of a surface works better than a single pendant sitting in the middle. It also earns its keep in a stairwell or a tall hallway, hung low enough to be read from the landing. Each shade takes its own E27 lamp, and with suitable dimmable lamps and a compatible dimmer the fitting can be taken down to a soft evening level. It belongs in dry rooms indoors, so a bathroom or a covered porch is the wrong home for it.
The satin nickel finish asks very little of you: a dry duster over the frame now and then, and a barely damp cloth on the shades if cooking has left a film, with the power off and the lamps cold first. It carries a one year warranty. The same round globe shade turns up elsewhere in the range on a small flush fitting, in antique gold or polished chrome, which we would put on a landing or in a cloakroom nearby to tie the rooms together. Lamps are not included.

Frequently Asked
How low can the shades hang?
The drop is adjustable between 270mm and 2270mm, so it can sit tight under a standard ceiling or reach well down over a dining table or stairwell.
What lamps should I buy for it?
It takes three E27 lamps, each up to 20W. LED capsules or LED globes suit it best, and we would pick a size and shape that sits neatly within the opal shade.
Can I put it on a dimmer?
Yes, provided you fit dimmable lamps and a dimmer matched to them. No dimmer is supplied with the fitting.
How wide is it overall?
The round ceiling frame is 400mm in diameter, with the three shades spaced around it, so allow a little more than that clear of walls and cupboard doors.
How do I clean the opal shades?
Switch off at the wall and let everything cool, then wipe with a soft cloth. A barely damp cloth lifts kitchen film; avoid sprays and abrasive creams on both the shades and the nickel.
How heavy is the fitting?
It weighs 3.8kg complete, before lamps.
