Three chrome glass globes hang beneath a shallow round backplate, close enough to the ceiling to keep well clear of heads and doors. Each shade is open at the mouth, so light drops downward in soft pools while the mirrored glass keeps the surface bright and reflective. The plate measures 40cm across, which gives it enough width to read as a proper light rather than a functional one, and the fitting sits tight and shallow against the ceiling. It is a quiet shape that suits rooms where headroom is tight.

We would choose it for a hallway, a landing or a bedroom where the ceiling sits low and a pendant would only be in the way. It is equally at home in a study, a dressing room or a small kitchen, giving even light across the room without anything dangling in your eyeline. Each lamp holder takes a screw-fit E27, and the fitting will dim if you pair dimmable lamps with a matching dimmer. Dry indoor rooms are where it belongs, running on a standard household supply.

Backplate and frame are finished in polished chrome, with the glass globes given a chrome mirror finish so metal and shade read as one piece. A dry microfibre cloth is all the chrome asks for; fingermarks on the globes lift with a barely damp cloth, and abrasive creams and polishes are best kept away from both. It carries a one year warranty. We also stock the same globe shade on a smaller single light plate in polished chrome, and in antique gold if you would rather a warmer metal, so a landing or hallway can be matched back to the main room. Lamps are not included.

What size lamps should I use?

Each of the three holders takes an E27 screw-fit lamp rated up to 20W. LED is the sensible choice here, and because the globes are mirrored you may want to try a couple of shapes to see which you prefer through the glass.

How far does it drop from the ceiling?

The fitting is 90mm deep, so it stays close to the ceiling and is a good option where a hanging light would be too low.

Can it be dimmed?

Yes, provided you fit dimmable lamps and a dimmer switch that is compatible with them. No dimmer is supplied with the light.

How do I clean the chrome and the glass?

Dust the metalwork with a dry lint-free or microfibre cloth. Marks on the globes come off with a cloth wrung out in warm water, then a dry buff. Avoid scouring pads, metal polish and anything abrasive on either surface.

Is it suitable for a bathroom?

No. It is rated IP20, which means it is intended for dry rooms such as hallways, bedrooms, studies and living spaces rather than bathrooms or covered outdoor areas.

Does it spread light across a whole room?

With three shades set across a 40cm plate it gives a broad, even wash rather than one narrow pool, which works well in hallways and mid-sized rooms.
