Libra 8 Light Crystal Chandelier - Antique Brass, 74cm

The Libra is an 8-light chandelier built around scrollwork brass arms radiating from a central column, finished in antique brass with faceted crystal droplets hung beneath each arm and from the centre. The chandelier measures 74cm in diameter and takes eight E14 candle-flame bulbs (sold separately), each sitting in a flared brass sconce with a glass drip tray to catch the crystal strands above. The antique brass finish has a darker, aged patina compared to polished brass, giving the metalwork depth under both daylight and artificial light.

Designed for dining rooms, entrance halls and living rooms with ceiling heights of 2.8m or higher, the Libra provides both ambient and decorative light. The adjustable drop runs from 920mm minimum to 2420mm maximum on installation, allowing the chandelier to be positioned 800-900mm above a dining table for a typical 2.4-2.6m ceiling, or extended for double-height hallways and stairwells. The eight arms are arranged in two tiers — four lower arms and four upper — giving the chandelier symmetry when viewed from below. The 6.5kg weight requires a ceiling rose rated for the load and secure fixing into a joist or cross-batten.

Each of the eight arms ends in a clear glass drip tray set beneath the bulb holder, a feature taken from traditional candle chandeliers where the glass caught wax drips. On the Libra these trays act as small reflectors, bouncing light back through the crystal strands hung immediately below them. The crystal droplets are faceted to scatter light across the room when the chandelier is lit, creating small points of reflected light on walls and ceilings. The scrollwork on the arms is cast, not stamped, so each curve has dimensional depth rather than appearing flat. The central column features a turned brass orb at the base with a larger faceted crystal drop hanging beneath it, serving as a visual endpoint when looking up at the chandelier from below.

What bulbs does the Libra take?

The chandelier takes eight E14 small Edison screw bulbs, sold separately. Most users choose candle-flame or bent-tip candle LED bulbs between 4-6W and 2700K for a warm traditional appearance. The maximum wattage per bulb is 60W.

Is the Libra dimmable?

Yes, provided you fit dimmable bulbs and pair the chandelier with a compatible dimmer switch. The chandelier itself has no electronics — dimming is controlled by the bulbs and the wall dimmer.

What ceiling height is needed?

The 920mm minimum drop suits ceiling heights of 2.8m or higher when used above a dining table. For entrance halls and stairwells the drop can be extended to 2420mm. In rooms with 2.4-2.6m ceilings the chandelier may hang too low for comfortable circulation beneath it.

How is the crystal cleaned?

Turn off power at the mains before cleaning. Wipe each crystal droplet individually with a dry microfibre cloth. For heavier dust, a barely-damp cloth with distilled water is acceptable, but avoid soaking the crystal or letting water run into the brass arms where it may cause tarnishing.
