Description

Concrete, cast round and finished in white, with a body slim enough to sit close against brick, render or timber cladding. The surface keeps the faint grain and slight variation that cast concrete always has, so it looks solid rather than sprayed on. It measures 85mm across the face. Two GU10 lamps do the lighting, each taking up to 12W, and we would put warm white LED reflectors in for a steady, low-key glow after dark.

It suits a front door, a porch, a back step or a garden wall, and it is sealed against driven rain and a hose-down, so exposed and coastal sites are fair game. Because the fitting is compact, it works well in a run: one either side of a door, or spaced along a path or courtyard wall where a lantern would look heavy. It is one we point people towards when a porch light needs to be quiet rather than decorative. Dimming is possible if you choose dimmable lamps and add a dimmer, which is worth doing on a terrace you actually sit out on.

Concrete is the point of it: dense, matt and unbothered by weather, and it will age gently over the years the way a garden wall does. Cleaning is a rinse and a wipe with a damp cloth, then leave it to dry; keep solvents and abrasive creams away, as they dull the surface. It carries a two year warranty. The Levi range goes further than this one: the same round face in grey concrete, rectangular versions in both concrete finishes, and single-lamp spotlights if you want a smaller point of light nearby. Lamps are not included.
