Description

Cast concrete in a soft grey, this is a compact rectangular fitting that throws light both up the wall and down it. Two GU10 lamps sit at either end of the slim block, so the effect is a pair of narrow beams rather than a general wash. At 180mm tall it stays modest against a wall, and the shallow projection keeps it clear of doorways and paths. By daylight it reads as little more than a grey rectangle, which is much of its appeal.

Outdoors it earns its keep either side of a front door, along a garden wall, beside a garage or flanking steps. The sealing suits open positions that take wind and driving rain, so it need not shelter under a porch roof. We would fit a warm white LED reflector lamp here, and where you want the light lower for a late evening on the terrace, dimmable lamps and a matched dimmer will do it. Each lamp draws up to 12W, which goes a long way in LED. It suits anyone after crisp, modern lines rather than a lantern.

The body is concrete, so small variations in tone and texture from one casting to the next come with the material rather than counting as faults. A damp cloth and a dry off will clear dust, salt and cobwebs; keep abrasive creams and solvents away from the surface. It carries a two year warranty. We also stock this shape in white concrete and a round version in both finishes, along with single lamp spotlights in the same range, so a run of doors, walls and steps can be lit with one family of fittings. Lamps are not included.
