Description

Cast concrete gives this small spotlight its weight and its faintly rough grey surface, with the tone shifting a little from piece to piece as cast stone tends to. The body sits 90mm across and stands 130mm tall, so it reads as a neat block rather than something that pulls the eye. A GU10 lamp of up to 12W goes behind the front aperture, and the housing is sealed against dust and driving rain, which puts fully exposed positions within reach. Dimming works where the lamp itself is a dimmable type and a dimmer is on the circuit.

We would set them flanking a front door, or in a run along a garden wall so the light grazes brick and planting. It suits a covered porch, a side passage, the head of garden steps, or a spot above a shed door where you want to see the lock. Indoors it holds up in a shower room, a utility or a boot room, anywhere splash and steam rule out a softer fitting. It is one for houses with plain rendered or brick faces, where a concrete block looks intended rather than dropped on.

Concrete makes up the outside in full, so expect a surface that weathers gently in the open air rather than staying showroom fresh; many people like it more for that. Grit and cobwebs brush off dry, and salt or splash marks lift with a cloth wrung out in clean water, no abrasives and no solvents. It carries a two year warranty.
