Description

The Lemuria is a 546mm drum pendant designed by Karyl Pierce Paxton for Gilded Nola, featuring a Grecian key metalwork frame in gold leaf finish with an ivory white linen shade and internal opal diffuser. Three E27 bulbs (sold separately) light the diffuser from inside the drum, casting ambient light through the fabric and glass. The pendant can be mounted in two configurations: as a traditional pendant with adjustable drop from 318mm to 1232mm, or as a semi-flush ceiling fitting at 191mm projection from the ceiling rose.

Designed for dining rooms, entrance halls and living rooms with ceiling heights between 2.4m and 3.5m, the dual-mount system allows the same fitting to adapt to different rooms. As a pendant, the adjustable drop positions the 546mm-diameter drum 700-900mm above a dining table or 1500-2000mm below a tall ceiling. As a semi-flush fitting, it suits rooms where ceiling height or fixture placement makes a long drop impractical. The Grecian key pattern wraps around the outer frame of the drum, creating a repeating geometric relief that catches sidelight.

The gold leaf finish is applied by hand to the metal framework, giving a warm metallic tone with slight tonal variation across the surface. The ivory linen shade diffuses the three internal bulbs into a soft, even glow, while the opal glass diffuser at the base prevents direct bulb glare when viewed from below. The 60W maximum per socket supports E27 LED, halogen or filament bulbs, with most installations using 8-12W warm-white LEDs at 2700K to achieve ambient light without excessive brightness.
