Clear cut crystal hung on a polished chrome frame gives this small shade its sparkle, catching light from the lamp inside and throwing it back in bright points. It measures 21cm across and 19cm tall, so it reads as jewellery rather than bulk. Being non-electric, it is supplied as the shade alone and takes its light from whatever fitting you dress with it.

We reach for it where a plain fabric drum would fall flat: a hallway pendant, bedside lamps, a dressing table light in a bedroom that wants a little glitter. It works either way, hanging from a pendant or sitting on a table lamp, which lets you repeat the same shade around a room in different roles. Crystal wants air around it, so give it space rather than tucking it tight against a shelf or into a corner. It suits smaller rooms and lower ceilings, where a broader shade would crowd the view.

The frame is polished to a mirror brightness and the crystal is clear, cut so the chrome glows through it. Faceted glass shows dust sooner than fabric does, so an occasional going over with a lint free cloth keeps the facets bright; leave the sprays and polishes alone, as they dull chrome and cloud crystal. It carries a one year warranty. Elsewhere in the range we stock ball, cone, curved trapezium, cylinder, drum and bell shades, in French gold and antique brass alongside this chrome, so a set can be mixed by shape and kept to one finish. The lamp comes from the host fitting and is not supplied with the shade.
