Description
Rust brown is an easy finish to live with outdoors: warmer than grey, quieter than black, and it settles against brick, render and timber without pulling the eye. This is a small square fitting, 70mm across and 150mm tall, taking two GU10 lamps behind a housing rated for rain and blown dust. Reflector lamps are what we would put in it, which keeps the light tight and purposeful rather than scattering it across the wall. There is no switch on the body and it is not built for dimming, so it runs from whatever switching the circuit already carries.
Porches, back doors, side passages and garden walls are the obvious homes for it. Because it sits close in and stays low, it works where a lantern would look bulky, or on a narrow path where anything deeper would catch a shoulder. We fit these in pairs either side of a front door, and in a spaced run along a boundary or terrace wall where you want even pools of light rather than one bright spot. It suits fresh render and weathered brick equally well, and anyone who wants exterior lighting to look considered without becoming the first thing a visitor notices.
Given where it lives, a wipe with a damp cloth a few times a year keeps grime and cobwebs off, done with the power off and the lamps cool, and a soft brush around the edges clears leaf litter in autumn. Rust brown holds its own against the seasons better than a pale finish, since dust and rain marks show less on it. It carries a two year warranty. We stock the Kandanchu range in round bodies as well as square, and in anthracite, sand white and sand black if this tone is not the one for your walls. Lamps are not included.

Frequently Asked
What lamps does it take?
Two GU10 lamps, up to 10W each. We would use 50mm LED reflector lamps, which give the neat directional beam this fitting is designed around.
Can I put it on a dimmer?
No. It is a non-dimmable fitting, so it should be run from a standard on/off switch rather than a dimmer circuit.
How far does it stand off the wall?
Projection is 95mm, with a 70mm wide by 150mm tall face, so it stays tidy on narrow paths and shallow porches.
Is it suitable for an exposed wall?
It is IP54 rated, which covers rain, spray and dust in normal exposed positions such as a front elevation or garden wall.
How should I clean it?
Switch off at the wall, let the lamps cool, then wipe the housing with a damp cloth and dry it. Avoid solvents and abrasive pads, which will mark the finish.
What other finishes are there?
The same square body comes in anthracite, sand white and sand black, and there are round versions in the range too.
