Description

This is a cordless lantern in a rust brown finish, tall and narrow at 325mm, with a slim body and a soft warm glow. Because it runs on a rechargeable battery, there is no flex and no need for a socket nearby; a USB charging cable comes with it. A touch dimmer sits on the fitting, so you can take the light from full brightness down to something close to candlelight with a fingertip. The colour of the light is a warm 3000K, closer to a lit filament than to daylight.

We reach for this one on a garden table, along the top of a low wall, or by a back door where running power would be more trouble than it is worth. It is happy on a balcony, at a picnic bench, or carried indoors to a windowsill when the evening turns. Rated for splashes and blown dust, it copes with a sheltered spot outdoors, though we would bring it in over winter rather than leave it standing in the wet. It suits anyone who entertains outside and wants the light where the people are, not where the wiring is.

The body carries a rust brown finish across its full height, warm-toned and quiet against planting and timber. The LED is integrated, so there is nothing to replace: charge it, switch it on and the fitting does the rest. To clean, wipe the outer surfaces with a barely damp cloth and dry them off before charging, and keep the charging point clear of grit. It carries a three year warranty.
