Description

Woven rattan in a soft beige forms the broad, shallow dome of this fitting, with an integrated LED behind the weave and a quiet DC fan built into the body. Everything runs from the supplied remote: brightness, the shift from warm white through to a crisp cool white, and the fan, which has a single speed and a reverse setting so air can be drawn up rather than pushed down. At 56cm across it sits close to the ceiling and reads as a wide natural disc rather than a piece of machinery.

We reach for this one in rooms where a hanging fan would feel heavy handed: bedrooms with a modest ceiling height, garden rooms, loft conversions and open sitting rooms that warm up in summer. The tuneable white is genuinely useful over a bed, cool and bright for making the room ready, low and amber for reading last thing. Being splash rated, it also has a place in a larger bathroom or an ensuite. It earths, so it needs a proper earth at the ceiling point.

The rattan is left in its natural beige, which throws a soft patterned glow onto the ceiling once the light is up, and the 55W LED and driver are housed within so nothing is on show. Keep it clean with a soft brush or the dusting attachment of a vacuum, working across the weave rather than into it, and use a barely damp cloth only on the smooth painted parts. It carries a five year warranty. We find it settles happily alongside oak, linen and pale plaster walls, and it is a fair alternative when a rattan pendant would hang too low over a bed or a table.
