Description
The Hobson is a 240mm industrial pendant light with an aged brass finish, a working top pivot mechanism borrowed from vintage factory lighting, and a seeded glass bell shade. The pendant takes a single E27 bulb (sold separately) housed inside the glass, which diffuses light through the seeded texture while showing the bulb filament through the translucent walls.
Designed for kitchen islands, dining tables and entrance halls, the Hobson suits both single installation over a small round table and clustered runs of two or three pendants over longer surfaces. The 1499mm maximum drop adjusts down to 583mm during installation by shortening the rod inside the ceiling canopy, allowing the pendant to be set 700-900mm above a worktop or table depending on ceiling height. The aged brass finish has a matte patina that reads as dark gold or bronze depending on surrounding light.
The pivot mechanism at the top of the shade is functional rather than decorative — the shade can be tilted slightly to adjust the light throw, though the pendant is primarily designed to hang vertically. The seeded glass is pressed rather than hand-blown, giving a consistent bubble texture across the surface that softens the light output without fully obscuring the bulb. The metal band at the base of the shade is part of the aged brass frame, not a separate trim ring.
The Hobson is part of the Feiss urban-industrial collection and pairs well with exposed brick, dark timber joinery, and concrete or stone worktops. The aged brass works in warm-toned interiors and provides contrast in cooler grey or white schemes. The 240mm diameter makes the pendant compact enough for galley kitchens and smaller dining areas without losing presence.

Frequently Asked
What bulb does the Hobson take?
The pendant takes a standard E27 (Edison screw) bulb up to 60W. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with a vintage-style LED filament bulb between 4-8W and 2200K-2700K to complement the industrial aesthetic and show the filament through the seeded glass.
Can the drop height be adjusted?
Yes. The pendant ships with a 1499mm maximum drop that can be shortened to 583mm during installation by cutting the rod and cable inside the ceiling canopy. Once installed, the height is fixed.
Does the pivot mechanism allow the shade to be angled?
The top pivot is functional and allows slight tilting of the shade, though the pendant is designed primarily to hang vertically. The mechanism is part of the industrial styling rather than a major adjustment feature.
How many pendants are needed over a kitchen island?
For an island 1.2-1.5m long, one Hobson centred is typically sufficient. For islands 1.8-2.4m, two pendants spaced 600-800mm apart work well. For longer islands, three in a run provides balanced light distribution.
