The HDview 8MP 4-channel PoE NVR is a network video recorder with a 2TB surveillance-grade hard drive pre-installed, designed to record and manage up to four IP cameras at resolutions up to 8 megapixels (3840×2160). The unit uses H.265 video compression to reduce storage consumption by approximately 50% compared to H.264 while maintaining the same image quality, extending the usable recording time on the 2TB drive.

The NVR supports Power over Ethernet, meaning each of the four camera channels can receive both data and power over a single Ethernet cable, eliminating the need for separate power supplies at each camera location. Cable runs of up to 250m per channel are supported using Cat5e or Cat6 cable. The HDMI output delivers live and playback video at up to 4K resolution, allowing high-detail review on compatible monitors.

Intelligent video analytics include line cross detection (triggering recording when an object crosses a defined line) and perimeter intrusion detection (triggering when an object enters a defined zone). These features reduce false alerts compared to basic motion detection and allow targeted recording of specific events. The NVR can record continuously, on a schedule, on motion, or using intelligent triggers, with simultaneous playback and remote viewing via the manufacturer's mobile app.

The metal chassis measures 436mm wide, 291mm deep and 81mm high, fitting standard 19-inch rack shelving (1U height) or sitting on a shelf in a cabinet. The unit includes a front-panel USB port for evidence transfer to a flash drive, and the rear panel carries the four PoE Ethernet ports, HDMI output, and power input. What cameras are compatible with this NVR?

The NVR works with IP cameras that support ONVIF protocols and resolutions up to 8MP. The four PoE ports supply power and data to compatible cameras over standard Ethernet cable. Check camera specifications for ONVIF compatibility before pairing.

How long does 2TB record for?

Recording time depends on camera resolution, frame rate, compression codec and motion activity. At 8MP resolution using H.265 compression and continuous recording from four cameras, expect approximately 10-14 days of storage. Lower resolutions, motion-only recording, or fewer active cameras extend this significantly.

Can I access the NVR remotely?

What's the maximum cable length per camera?

Each PoE channel supports cable runs up to 250m using Cat5e or Cat6 Ethernet cable. Beyond 100m, use quality cable with solid copper conductors rather than copper-clad aluminium to maintain power delivery and data integrity.
