Description

The HDview FHDVC18PTZ is a 2MP outdoor PTZ (pan-tilt-zoom) camera with an 18x optical zoom lens covering 4.7-84.6mm focal length, 360° pan rotation, and a True HD AHD sensor outputting 1080p resolution. The camera dome houses infrared LEDs providing up to 50m night illumination, allowing the camera to capture identifiable detail in complete darkness.

Designed for perimeter surveillance, large driveways, commercial premises, and anywhere requiring wide-area coverage with zoom capability, the camera can be controlled via mobile app to pan across a property, zoom into specific zones, and tilt between ground level and overhead angles. The full 360° pan function means the camera can track movement across the entire horizontal plane without blind spots. The IP66 weatherproof rating makes it suitable for permanent outdoor installation in UK weather conditions including heavy rain and dust exposure.

The white dome housing measures 279mm diameter and mounts to walls or soffits via the included bracket. The camera ships with a 2-amp 12V DC power supply and connects to an AHD-compatible DVR via coaxial cable (sold separately). The 18x optical zoom provides genuine magnification without digital interpolation, so zoomed images retain clarity and detail. The varifocal lens adjusts between wide-angle overview (4.7mm) for monitoring entire areas and telephoto zoom (84.6mm) for identifying faces, vehicle plates, or specific details at distance.

What DVR or recorder does this camera need?

The camera outputs 2MP AHD signal over coaxial cable and requires an AHD-compatible DVR or hybrid DVR that supports AHD input. It will not work with analogue-only CCTV recorders or IP-only NVRs. Check your DVR specifications before purchasing.

How is the pan, tilt and zoom controlled?

PTZ functions are controlled via compatible AHD DVR using RS485 communication, or through a mobile app when paired with a network-connected DVR. The camera cannot be controlled directly without a DVR in the system.

What's the maximum night vision range?

The infrared LEDs provide up to 50m illumination in complete darkness. Actual range depends on environmental conditions, reflective surfaces, and whether the lens is zoomed in (which concentrates the IR beam) or at wide angle (which spreads it).

Is the camera suitable for coastal or high-humidity locations?

The IP66 rating protects against dust ingress and powerful water jets, making the camera suitable for most UK outdoor installations including exposed coastal areas. However, the housing is not IP67 or IP68, so it should not be submerged or installed where it will be continually drenched in salt spray.
