Description

Four tiers of clear Diyas Select crystal step down a polished chrome frame, each row catching light from the eleven candle lamps set among them. At 50cm across it reads as a wide, generous shape rather than a narrow column, and the body stands tall enough to fill the space above a table or a stair. The crystal is clear, so the colour comes from the chrome behind it and from whatever the room gives back. Nothing here is antiqued or tinted: bright metal and clear glass, and both meant to stay that way.

This is one we would hang in a stairwell or a double-height hall, where there is height to spare and the tiers can be read from below as well as face on. It suits a long dining table in a formal room just as well. There is a good deal of drop to work with, so high ceilings are its natural home. It takes E14 candle lamps, and it will dim if the lamps you fit are dimmable ones. The light it gives is ambient, spread about by the glass rather than aimed anywhere in particular.

The frame is polished chrome and the crystal is cut clear glass, hung in ordered rows rather than swagged. Dust settles on crystal quickly, so give the glass a going over with a clean lint-free cloth now and then, with the power off and the lamps cold; marks on the chrome lift with a barely damp cloth and a dry buff after. It carries a one year warranty.
