Description

The Galaxy is a 16-light sputnik chandelier built around a 96cm-wide black metal frame, with brushed brass collars at each junction and clear glass globes capping every arm. Sixteen G9 bulb fittings (sold separately) sit inside the glass shades, and the asymmetric arm arrangement spreads the globes across multiple planes rather than a single flat ring.

Designed for rooms with the ceiling height to take a 96cm-wide fitting, the Galaxy suits open-plan living rooms, dining rooms above a long table, double-height stairwells and commercial reception spaces. The fitting hangs from a slim black drop rod and circular black ceiling plate, and the rod can be shortened on installation to set the chandelier at the correct drop for the room. Minimum recommended ceiling height is around 2.6m to keep the lowest globe clear of head height.

The black metal arms branch out from a central node in a multi-directional cluster, with brushed brass joints highlighting each connection point. Glass globes vary slightly in size and silhouette across the cluster, giving the fitting a sculptural quality when unlit and a dispersed, multi-point glow when switched on. Overall fitting height is 40cm excluding the drop rod, and the frame uses 16 individual G9 lamp holders so a failed bulb can be replaced without dismantling the fixture.

What bulbs does the Galaxy take?

The chandelier uses 16 x G9 bulbs (sold separately). Most buyers fit G9 LED capsules between 2W and 4W per lamp at 2700K-3000K for a warm, dispersed glow that suits the clear glass shades.

What ceiling height is needed?

The fitting itself is 40cm tall, with an additional drop rod that can be shortened during installation. A minimum ceiling height of around 2.6m is recommended to keep the lowest globe clear of head height in a circulation area; over a dining table the chandelier can be hung lower.

Is the drop rod adjustable?

Yes. The drop rod can be cut or removed in sections during installation to set the chandelier at the correct height for the room. This should be carried out by a qualified electrician.

Are the bulbs visible through the glass?

Yes. The shades are clear glass, so the G9 capsule is visible inside each globe. Choosing a G9 LED with a frosted or opal lens softens the visible filament point and gives a more diffused appearance through the glass.
