Description

The Franklin is a grey metal desk lamp built around a curved polished chrome arm that arcs from a spun metal base to a domed metal shade. The shade houses a single E27 bulb fitting (bulb sold separately) and the lamp stands 460mm tall with a 360mm reach from base to shade edge.

Designed for focused task lighting on desks, bedside tables and reading corners, the Franklin directs light downward through the open bottom of the shade. The curved arm positions the shade forward of the base, keeping the light source off to one side rather than directly above the work surface. This asymmetric positioning reduces glare on screens and polished desk surfaces while providing directed illumination for reading and writing tasks.

The spun metal construction gives both the base and shade a smooth, low-profile finish. The soft grey tone on the metalwork contrasts with the polished chrome arm, creating a mix of warm metallic and neutral colour that pairs with both warm wood tones and cooler metal or glass furniture. The compact 300mm width at the base allows the lamp to sit on narrow desks, bedside tables and windowsills without taking up excessive surface area.

What bulb does the Franklin take?

The lamp takes a standard E27 (Edison screw) bulb up to 60W. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with a warm-white LED bulb between 6-10W and 2700K-3000K for desk or bedside reading.

Is the shade adjustable?

No. The shade is fixed to the curved chrome arm in a set position. The arm itself does not pivot or adjust, so the light direction is determined by where you position the lamp on the desk or table.

What's the reach from the base to the centre of the shade?

The 360mm projection measurement represents the full depth from the back edge of the base to the front edge of the shade. The centre of the shade sits approximately 250-280mm forward of the base centre, depending on the arc of the arm.

Is the grey finish matt or gloss?

The grey finish on the metal shade and base is a low-sheen semi-matt. It is not a high-gloss enamel, which keeps reflections minimal under task lighting conditions.
