Description

This Knightsbridge fixed GU10 downlight provides fire-rated ceiling integration with a brushed chrome bezel finish. The pressed steel housing accepts GU10 halogen or LED lamps up to 35W (lamp sold separately) and carries fire ratings of 30, 60 or 90 minutes in solid timber joists, 30 minutes in web-joists, and 30 minutes in I-joists (Staircraft). The fitting installs via a 65mm cut-out and requires a minimum 150mm ceiling void depth.

Designed for residential new builds, refurbishments and commercial fit-outs where Building Regulations require fire-rated downlights, the fitting uses push-fit terminals for fast installation and supports loop-in/loop-out wiring for multi-light circuits. The IP20 rating suits dry internal rooms (living rooms, bedrooms, hallways, offices) but not bathrooms or outdoor use. When paired with a maximum 6W LED lamp the fitting is IC-rated, allowing it to be installed in direct contact with loft insulation.

The brushed chrome bezel sits nearly flush with the ceiling, projecting just 4mm once installed. The fixed lamp holder means the light direction is straight down from the ceiling — there is no tilt or rotation. Dimming capability depends on the GU10 lamp selected; most dimmable GU10 LEDs work with standard trailing-edge dimmers. The 85mm external diameter and low-profile bezel make the fitting visually discreet in white or neutral-toned ceilings.

What ceiling void depth is required?

A minimum 150mm ceiling void is needed to accommodate the 100mm recessed depth of the fitting plus clearance. The 65mm cut-out diameter determines the hole size in the plasterboard or ceiling material.

Does it come with a GU10 bulb?

No. GU10 lamps are sold separately. The fitting accepts halogen lamps up to 35W or LED lamps up to 35W equivalent, with most users choosing 4-6W LED lamps in 2700K-3000K for residential lighting.

Is it dimmable?

Dimming depends on the GU10 lamp you install. Pair the fitting with a dimmable GU10 LED and a compatible trailing-edge dimmer switch for full dimming functionality. Non-dimmable lamps will operate at fixed brightness only.

Can it be installed in contact with loft insulation?

Yes, when used with a maximum 6W LED lamp the fitting is IC-rated and can be installed in direct contact with thermal insulation. Higher wattage lamps require clearance from insulation to prevent overheating.
