Description
The Knightsbridge VFRSGICB is a fire-rated tilt downlight with a GU10 socket, cast in pressed steel and aluminium with a brass finish. The fitting tilts 15 degrees from centre, allowing light to be directed towards a wall, artwork or architectural detail rather than straight down. The fire-rated housing meets BS476 Part 21 & 23 and Building Regulations Part B, tested to 30/60/90-minute fire resistance in solid timber ceilings and 30 minutes in web-joist and I-joist constructions.
Designed for ceiling installation in residential, hospitality and commercial spaces, the downlight fits an 84mm cut-out and requires 105mm of ceiling void depth. The insulation-compatible housing allows loft insulation to be packed directly against the fitting without creating a fire risk or overheating. The twist-and-lock bezel at the front allows GU10 bulbs to be changed from below without removing the fitting from the ceiling. Spring clips secure the fitting to ceiling thicknesses up to 30mm.
The brass finish provides a warm metallic accent that works in traditional, classical and warm-toned contemporary interiors. The fitting accepts any standard GU10 bulb up to 50W and 60mm in length, including halogen, LED and CFL retrofit bulbs (sold separately). Electrical termination is via a 10A connector block inside the secure housing, supplied with cord grip for strain relief. The IP20 rating restricts use to dry indoor spaces — not suitable for bathrooms, wet rooms or outdoor installation.

Frequently Asked
What does fire-rated mean?
Fire-rated downlights are tested to maintain the fire resistance of the ceiling they're installed into. This fitting meets BS476 Part 21 & 23 and provides 30/60/90-minute fire resistance in solid timber ceilings, and 30 minutes in web-joist and I-joist constructions. It's compliant with Building Regulations Part B (Fire Safety), making it suitable for installation in homes, commercial buildings and HMOs where fire resistance is required.
Can insulation touch the housing?
Yes. The fitting is rated as insulation-compatible, meaning loft insulation can be packed directly against the housing without creating a fire risk or causing the fitting to overheat. This is essential in modern well-insulated properties.
What bulb does it take and is it dimmable?
The fitting takes any standard GU10 bulb up to 50W and 60mm in length. Bulbs are sold separately. Dimming depends on the bulb — if you install a dimmable GU10 LED and pair it with a compatible dimmer switch, the fitting will dim. Non-dimmable bulbs will not dim regardless of the switch.
What ceiling void depth is needed?
The fitting requires 105mm of ceiling void depth above the plasterboard. The cut-out diameter is 84mm and the fitting projects 5mm below the ceiling once installed. Maximum ceiling thickness is 30mm for the spring clips to grip securely.
