Description

The Knightsbridge VFRSHGICC is a fire-rated IP65 shower downlight with a chrome bezel, pressed steel housing and a GU10 lamp fitting. The IP65 rating from below makes it suitable for bathroom zones 1 and 2, while the fire-rated construction provides 30/60/90 minute protection in solid timber ceilings, 30 minutes in web-joist construction and 30 minutes in I-joist installations.

Designed for bathrooms, shower rooms and wet-room ceilings where both moisture protection and fire safety are required by Building Regulations, the downlight fits a 70mm ceiling cut-out and requires 118mm recessed depth above the ceiling line. The twist-and-lock front ring secures the GU10 lamp without tools and the spring clip fixings accommodate ceiling thicknesses up to 30mm. The insulation-compatible housing allows loft insulation to be laid directly over the fitting without creating a clearance gap.

The pressed steel and aluminium housing with integrated intumescent padding meets BS476 Part 21 and 23 fire safety standards and complies with Building Regulations Part B. Electrical termination is via a 10A connector block inside a secure enclosure with cord grip, requiring earth connection (Class I). The chrome bezel projects 7mm below the ceiling surface once installed and accepts any GU10 halogen, LED or CFL lamp up to 35W. Dimmability depends on the lamp chosen.

Can this be used in a shower cubicle?

Yes. The IP65 rating from below makes it suitable for bathroom zone 1 (directly above a bath or shower) and zone 2 (within 600mm of a bath or shower). The rating from above is IP20, so the ceiling void must remain dry.

What ceiling depth is needed?

The fitting requires 118mm recessed depth above the ceiling line and a 70mm cut-out diameter. The spring clips accommodate ceiling thicknesses up to 30mm. Check your ceiling void depth before ordering.

Does it come with a GU10 lamp?

No. The lamp is sold separately. The fitting accepts any GU10 halogen, LED or CFL lamp up to 35W. Most installations now use GU10 LED lamps between 4-7W for lower running costs and heat output.

Is it dimmable?

Dimming depends on the GU10 lamp you choose. If you install a dimmable GU10 LED, the fitting will dim when paired with a compatible LED dimmer switch. Non-dimmable GU10 lamps will not dim regardless of the switch.
